If my knitting skills consisted of more than two crooked scarves, I'd give this pattern a try. I love the vintage twist on a knitted cap and as a bonus, it would certainly keep all parts of your ears warm instead of just the top half of them. It's also named the Amelia Earhart Aviator Cap and that alone makes me partial to it. I saw part of a documentary a few weeks ago on Amelia's disappearance and they were interviewing an old lday who remember sitting in front of her family radio as a young girl, listening to what she claimed was a call for help from Amelia herself. The girl sat there for over two hours, with a notebook, recording everything she heard. Can you imagine a connection like that, where you can't assist in any way except to keep listening? The story as it was told was riveting to me, true or not, and I can only imagine how that young girl felt, having heard of Amelia's planned journey on the news and then by chance, tuning in to a static ridden station one night and hearing the very same Amelia's voice, calling for help over the airwaves.
